Privacy Policy

Privacy isn’t a page on our website — it’s the reason we exist. Here’s exactly what information we handle, what we never touch, and your rights.

The short version: everything you store in Vault stays encrypted on your own device — we never receive it, so we can’t read it, lose it or sell it. On this website, we only collect what you choose to send us (like a contact-form message), and we never sell personal information to anyone.

1. Who we are

Ventures Beyond (“we”, “us”) is a technology business based in Gaborone, Botswana. We build the Vault application for Windows and provide IT services. We are the data controller for personal information described in this policy. Contact: hello@venturesbeyond.co.za.

2. The Vault app — what we do NOT collect

Vault is designed to be offline-first. Your passwords, notes, tasks, categories and themes are stored in an encrypted database on your own Windows PC.

  • We do not host, sync, transmit or back up your vault contents.
  • We do not hold, see or store your master password, PIN or Windows Hello data (biometrics are handled entirely by Windows on your device).
  • We do not collect the contents of your entries, notes or tasks — ever, in any form, including analytics.

Because of this design, we are technically unable to access, recover or disclose your vault data — including to ourselves.

3. What we do collect, and why

  • Contact details you send us. When you submit the contact form, email us or message us on WhatsApp, we receive your name, contact details and message. We use them to respond to your enquiry, prepare quotes, and provide the product or service you asked about. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before and during a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to you.
  • Billing information. If you subscribe to Vault or hire us for a service, we keep records needed to invoice you and meet tax and accounting obligations: name, contact details, plan, amounts and payment status. Card details are processed by our payment provider, not stored by us.
  • Basic technical data. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may log IP addresses and request data for security and troubleshooting. We don’t use this to identify or profile you.
  • Theme preference. The dark/light mode toggle stores your choice in your own browser (localStorage). It never leaves your device and contains nothing personal.

4. What we never do

  • We never sell or rent personal information.
  • We never use your data for third-party advertising.
  • We don’t run third-party ad trackers on this Site.

5. Third parties we rely on

We share personal information only with service providers that help us operate, and only to the extent needed:

  • Web fonts — this Site loads fonts from Google Fonts; your browser requests the font files from Google’s servers, which involves your IP address. Google’s privacy policy applies to that request.
  • Email and hosting providers — to receive and store correspondence and serve this Site.
  • Payment processors — to take subscription and service payments securely.

We may also disclose information where the law genuinely requires it. Note that even then, we cannot disclose Vault contents — we do not have them.

6. How long we keep information

Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards. Billing records are kept for the period required by Botswana tax and accounting law. You can ask us to delete correspondence at any time (see your rights below).

7. Security

We protect the information we do hold with access controls, encryption in transit and reputable providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we hold as little as possible by design — the safest data is the data we never collect.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law — including the Botswana Data Protection Act — you can ask us to:

  • confirm what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • delete information we no longer need to keep;
  • object to or restrict certain processing; and
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Email hello@venturesbeyond.co.za and we’ll respond within a reasonable time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority in your jurisdiction.

9. Children

Our Site, App and Services are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top and, for material changes, give notice on this Site. We will never quietly weaken the core promise: your Vault contents stay on your device, and we don’t sell personal data.
